My Finals Perspective

Finals are approaching so fast.
Earlier this year finals seemed so far away and now my first final is literally this Wednesday.
It is weird to think that my first semester in college is almost over. Hopefully my last minute cram study sessions pay off. I'm excited to get these finals over with because I feel like I need a break. I am enjoying the social part of college but all this work I constantly have to do is starting to get old so a month break is exactly what I need right now. I am hoping to do reasonably well on my finals to start me off with a somewhat strong GPA. Going into the medical field is exciting for me, but the competition for it stresses me out everyday, but at the same time it pushes me to get to where I need to be.

My Breakfast Food Perspective

This week I am going to talk about breakfast food. If I had to pick one thing to eat for the rest of my life it would be breakfast food. Breakfast food is such a wide variety of food, yet it is all so good.

Whether its blueberry pancakes. Honestly it can be any time of pancakes because pancakes taste amazing with just about anything. Personally my favorite pancakes are the real thin old fashioned pancakes.

Or thin waffles drizzled with warm syrup. Picture creds to Waffle House. Home of the best, cheapest waffles. Sadly I do not think there are any Waffle Houses in the Kalamazoo area or at least not to my knowledge.

Donuts are the best because if you are to lazy to cook up something yourself you can go pick up a fresh box of donuts. There are so many different flavors where everyone has to at least love one of the many donuts. One thing Kalamazoo does
have is donuts.

As good as carbs are, believe it or not healthy food actually tastes good as well. Sometimes eating a bunch of carbs at the beginning of the day is not the smartest choice depending on what you have going on later in the day. After all, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Sometimes a fruit pizza with an oatmeal crust is just the pick-me-up people need to get their day going.

My Thanksgiving Perspective

This thanksgiving I went down to Texas to spend the holiday. I had a great meal and ate a lot of food. Sadly I did not get to try everything my mom made because my dog got ahold of some of the food and he didn't even leave a crumb behind. I'm excited about the leftovers I will be eating over the next few days.
The good thing about coming back to Texas is that I got to get away from Michigan's cold weather. Its so nice being able to wear a shirt and shorts outside without having to worry about being cold. Along with the good weather, I also got to see some good friends I haven't seen since literally summer. I had a nice time catching up with them, but wish I had more time to catch up because it didn't seem like enough time to catch up with everyone.
Thanksgiving gives me a lot to be thankful for. I am thankful that I got to come down to Texas and see my friends, family, and my dogs. I am also thankful that WMU finished the season 12-0.

My Music Perspective

                                My Music Perspective
I have always enjoyed music for as long as I can remember.
Unfortunately I have slowed down with concerts since I moved to Michigan for college. I guess I expected there to be more a few concerts on campus. I am unsure if there have been any, but none to my knowledge. Kalamazoo, Michigan is not exactly an ideal tour stop for more popular artists. They visit other Michigan cities usually and I would be so down to go to more of a low key concert for a not so well-known band, but I do not even know of any good places for events like that.  I feel some what disconnected from music. I haven't been to a concert since the summer. Occasionally small artists will come into my Direct Arts Encounter class but it feels more like class instead of a concert because of the fact that it literally it class. Every now and then I walk around with headphones but sometimes I just try to conserve my battery on my phone because I know I will not be going home anytime soon. I did a majority of listening to music in my car, but instead of driving to school I walk because even though I am paying a buttload for a parking pass I am so limited on parking. Anyways if any of y'all know of any places in Kalamazoo for music and or any fun concerts coming up drop your ideas in the comments below.

My Netflix Perspective Part 2

Movie Edition

Last week I posted a list of some TV shows that in my eyes are worth the watch. I promised y'all a list a movies for this week so here it is.

Movies

The Lizzie McGuire Movie- Recently added to Netflix but for real a classic.
Back to the Future- Haven't seen this movie in a while, but always fun to watch.
Mean Girls- My little cousin Nick watched it for the first time a few weeks ago and thought it was hilarious. Most girls know a majority of the lines to this movie.
Grease- Perfect classic when you are in the mood to sing along.
Sixteen Candles- The old one not the Disney Channel remake.
Clueless- Good movie, but I do not suggest starting a romantic relationship with your stepbrother.
Jaws- I would not watch this movie before a swim.
Ferris Bueller's Day Off- When is skipping school not fun?

FYI I use Netflix for TV shows really so my movie list is looking a little rough... But if y'all have any recommendations for good Netflix movies put them in the comments!

My Netflix Perspective

Nowadays a good majority of everyone watches Netflix.

Sometimes we find ourselves wasting time browsing for a good show or movie to watch.

Here is a list of some good TV shows to watch if you find yourself stuck browsing Netflix.

TV shows
New Girl -  Currently my favorite show on Netflix. I find it really funny but the episodes are unfortunately short. There are currently 5 seasons on Netflix.
Scrubs -  Scrubs has stupid humor, but it still is funny and informative. The episodes are only around 20 minutes like New Girl, but there are 9 seasons to keep you busy for a while.
Arrow  -  This action filled TV show has longer episodes, but only 4 seasons. You always want to know what will happen next, definitely a must watch.
That '70s Show -  This 9 season long series is everyones favorite. I have not come across someone who doesn't like this show.
One Tree Hill -  9 seasons long. Starts off a little slow, but keep watching because it gets soo good.
Cuckoo -  3 short seasons, but HILARIOUS. You have never seen Taylor Lautner like this before.
Friends -  Everyone of all ages loves this classic TV show. All 10 seasons are on Netflix.
Grey's Anatomy - Currently 12 long seasons on Netflix. A tear jerker, but honestly very informative. I learned a lot just by watching this. Have not even started the third season though so no one spoil anything for me...
The Vampire Diaries -  7 seasons on Netflix. Another show called Originals even formed from this show although I have never seen it so I am unsure if it is worthy or not for this list.
Saved By The Bell -  I am very disappointed the college years are not on Netflix, but this classic is popular to many different age groups. 6 seasons on Netflix.
The 100 -  Very unpredictable show for me. 2 seasons are on Netflix, but I am pretty sure they made more seasons.
Jane the Virgin - I love the way this show is narrated. This is honestly a must see. 2 seasons are on Netflix.

Netflix is full of fun stuff to watch. They are constantly adding and deleting TV shows and movies. Here are a few TV shows I suggest for y'all. Stay tuned for next week to see my list of Netflix movies worth the watch...

6 Places I Would Rather Be Than Class

6 Places I Would Rather Be Than Class

Tired of class?
Don't want to be here?
Do you want to get up and leave?

Because SAME

Here are 7 places I would rather be than class...

1. Bed
If the teacher is just standing there going on and on and on about nothing in their monotoned voice I am more than likely going to fall asleep.  So I mine as well sleep in my designated sleeping spot.

2. The Beach
I want to go back to when my biggest worry was if I forgot to put sunscreen on. I miss the sand between my toes and people watching at the beach.

                                                3. Disney World
They call it the happiest place on Earth for a reason. I have not been to Disney since I was little, but that does not change the fact that I want to return there and relive my childhood for a future vacation.

                                              4. Hot Air Balloon
I'm not exactly sure how this would work out with my fear of heights, but it is definitely on my bucket list still. It is a good way to check out the best views around.

5.Valley Dining
9 out of 10 times that I am thinking about something other than my work in class it is about food. Valley dining has such a wide variety of what to eat. They have EVERYTHING. It is a blessing and a curse.

6.  This Garden
Sometimes all we need is some fresh air. This peaceful and tropical garden is the perfect get a way spot to relax.  My only suggestion is bring bug spray.

My Roommate Perspective

Going into college most people here knew at least one other person. Whether that person was from their high school, a friend, a friend of a friend, i think you are getting my point... Although for me I knew absolutely no one. I went to a Michigan college all the way from Texas. I am basically from another country. Ironically Texas used to be its own country. Before I arrived at college I feared having a weird room mate who is a complete slob and who will steal my food when I am not around. I had this fear consuming me because of the decision I made to go in blind. My room mate is never on campus during the weekends because she goes home every Thursday and comes back sometime Sunday from 1-6 in the morning. I know this because she feels the need to turn on the main light in the room waking me up from my slumber. It is very annoying, but being the passive person I am I do not say anything about it because if I start a fight/argument I know for sure my room mate will want to finish it. I for real got paired up with the most childish freshmen in college I swear. We have had a few problems, but when you go from living alone to sharing a room with a complete stranger you are bound to run into differences. I get along with my room mate for the most part, but she tells me she has a hard time getting along with everyone, which is definitely noticeable.  She for the most part sticks to herself. She honestly hates Western. I certainly don't hate Western, I just hate living in a negative vibe about Western. Moral of the story is do not go in blind. A lot has happened between my room mate and I that I did not write here.... If anyone has any tips or coping methods of any sort
please feel free to comment them below.

WMU vs. CMU

Rivalries can get pretty serious...
Especially when it comes to Western and Central competing against each other.
This year the WMU vs. CMU game was held at Central. So for the weekend I decided to go up to Central for the game and the weekend. I stayed with my cousin because she is a freshmen at CMU. Friday we went out and had fun, but I kept hearing a few phrases being overused to the point where it is annoying. If I had a dime for every time someone said "fire up" I would be rich. The whole weekend I was harassed by chips asking me what "Row the boat" even means. The whole entire time I am thinking what does "fire up" even mean. Saturday was game day and tailgating was fun leading up to the game. The game was fun, but we left after a while when the score isn't close anymore it really isn't that fun to watch.  So many chips were trash talking me talking about how they are going to win, but when the second quarter came along that definitely stopped. Overall, it was a fun way to start October. Western won staying undefeated while also managing to be nationally ranked for the first time in program history and the chips lost yet another game.
Row the boat!

Living in Valley II

Living in Valley II definitely has its pros and cons.
Pros
I love being able to park my car close to my dorm. The valley II parking lot is never completely full so there is always somewhere to park. When I get hungry I love having such a short walk to Valley Dining. It is about the only thing that is a close walk so I try to take advantage of it.  Valley II has it's own personal gym because it is the health professions community and it promotes healthy living.
Cons
There is no air conditioning. This was really only a problem when school first began because it has cooled down now. Unfortunately, Valley II is located on a giant hill. The walk up the hill is long and annoying and I dread it every time. I usually end up having to walk up the Valley III hill first, then taking the staircase or path that leads to Valley II just to avoid the hill. Valley II is also located on the very tip of Western Michigan's hilly campus making it far from all my classes.

My Traveling Perspective

If I could, I would travel the world.  I believe the best way of learning is through experiencing.  The quickest way to pick up a language or learn about a culture is to be apart of it. I have only traveled to a few countries, but every country I have traveled to, I picked up a lot just by being there. I have visited Italy, Jamaica, and Mexico.  As I get older I would like to add more countries to the list. My top two countries I want to visit are Poland and Germany. I am Polish, German, and Italian so it would be nice to experience my culture first hand. I also would like to visit Greece someday because the history and architecture of the place is breath taking.

My Pizza Perspective

My Pizza Perspective

Everyone loves pizza.

When it comes to pizza you have to think of the pizza trinity...(not in any specific order)
1. Pizza Rolls

Pizza rolls are definitely in the top ten best inventions ever created.  Bite size pizzas that burst inside of your mouth with flavor. Pizza rolls are quickly prepared, but are extremely hot at first.  They can be hard to resist eating; people of all ages usually result in burnt mouths due to being impatient with waiting on their pizza rolls to cool down.

2. Pizza Hut

Home of the cheese crust. Every time ordering I always end up getting pizza with cheese crust because it is a flavor enhancer step up from regular crust. I love getting pizza hut because it also fulfills my wings craving.

3.Pizza from Italy

Visiting Italy was a life changing experience. From the things I saw to the amazing meals I ate. It is unfortunate that all the best pizza is so far from us all the way in Italy, but it makes the long airplane ride up there worth it.  Italy had it all; from pizza being sold by the slice, to giant calzones, to pizzas the size of the whole entire oven being served. If you like pizza, you will love Italy.

My Political Perspective

My Political Perspective

Want to hear a joke?
The upcoming election.

This will be my first time I am finally able to vote, and my choices are:
A rich man who looks like a dehydrated carrot,  has possible hair extensions, and who does not seem to have a filter...

OR

A compulsive liar lady with an oddly big pant suit collection in every color you can think of.

This election is like going to the ice-cream store, and the store only having the worst flavors left.

Right now is about the time when I would advertise Gary Johnson, the libertarian party candidate, but what good would that do when he clearly has no chance of winning?  America is set up for either the republican party to win or the democratic party to win. So, when the winner of the 2016 election is announced remember no one is really winning...  America is losing, but at least we are losing together, as one country.

5 Things I Learned From Being A Child

5 Things I Learned From Being A Child

You learn from your mistakes. I have been making mistakes for eighteen years so I have learned a thing or two...

1. NEVER leave legos on the ground.  It is basically the kid version of walking on nails.

2. How to have a free water park right in your back yard! Put a hose on top of your slide so water runs down it like a water slide and also put a slip n slide at the bottom of the slide.

3.  The ground actually isn't lava...  I hopped on couches and pillows to avoid the ground for years before I realized the truth.

4.  The tooth fairy is NOT real. I had suspicion about the tooth fairy and my mom being the same person, so I marked every dollar bill in her purse with a pen in the corner before my mom knew I lost my tooth. I woke up in the morning with a dollar bill that had a pen mark in the corner...

5.  You are not the make up artist you think you are when you are seven. Yes at the time you think you are an 11 out of 10 but if you saw a picture of what you looked like now you would cringe, I did at least.
